The clients needed more living accommodation and decided to convert an adjacent existing barn to achieve it. The clients also wanted a modern look and it was clear that the imposing roof A-frames had to be incorporated in the design. Glass, timber and slate were chosen as the principal materials as these tied well with the existing stone and timber. Lime finishes, underfloor heating and a ground source heat pump add to the barn’s eco-credentials and help to complete this light, airy, warm and appealing conversion.
